Re: Need help to install...
Hi Folks,
Trying to update to the latest version 11 but it's frozen as shown below, been like that for about 8 hours now
[graeme@graeme ~]$ sudo freebsd-update install
src component not installed, skipped
No updates are available to install.
Run '/usr/sbin/freebsd-update fetch' first.
[graeme@graeme ~]$ cd /usr/sbin
[graeme@graeme /usr/sbin]$ sudo freebsd-update fetch
src component not installed, skipped
Looking up update.FreeBSD.org mirrors... 4 mirrors found.
Fetching metadata signature for 10.3-RELEASE from update5.freebsd.org... done.
Fetching metadata index... done.
Inspecting system... done.
Preparing to download files... done.
...skipping...
...skipping...
--More--(END)
Any advice gratefully received

Re: Need help to install...
If you want to upgrade to version 11.1. there are more steps involved.
If you want the latest bleeding edge packages for 10. 3 follow this guide put together by ASX;

I'll get back to you about upgrading to 11.1

Re: Need help to install...
11.1 refuses to install on any of my AMD machines 2009-2013. It just kernel panic and reboots. OpenBSD installs trouble-free. This seems to be the most troublesome one yet. I will try a fourth DVD. I was looking forward to this release.

Try USB Flash Drive bootup first Re: Need help to install...
Prince are you able to use http://etcher.io, unetbootin, or rufus http://rufus.akeo.ie tools to write the file to a USB flash drive. At least after testing GhostBSD 11.1 booting up from and installing to a hard drive partition, you will have a spare USB Flash drive for your future needs.
Etcher.io supports Windows, MacOS, Linux operating systems.

Re: Need help to install...
Thanks for the info, the issue was the media. The DVD was scratched. I have a new one. Now, the network won't enable. I will enable manually.
I have figure out why apps mysteriously close. Namely Firefox. I might reinstall then install Opera. I, predominantly, use Opera or Yandex Browser to network. Firefox does some questionable things and their security leaves much to be desired.

Both Etcher and Rufus failed to support DVDs. any way to make a bootable dvd with GhostBSD?wb7odyfred wrote: ↑Mon Mar 05, 2018 6:40 am Prince are you able to use http://etcher.io, unetbootin, or ISOGeeker tools to write the file to a USB flash drive.
