Righto, I ended up re-installing this time at the live user stage I started alc0 manually as above, left wifi alone then continued on with the rest of the install. All went well, Ethernet is up as expected.

Ok, I started dhclientd and ifconfig alc0 up and it now works. Has me stumped why it needs this manual intervention but at least the drivers are all ok.

Hi community, anyone know where / how I can get a Gigabit Ethernet driver for the Qualcomm Atheros AR8161. I have an oldish Dell Inspiron AIO that Ghost runs very well in except no ethernet - only wifi and that slows down productivity too much. I couldn't find anything in the repositories. Cheers an...

On several installs lately, Dell laptop, Dell AIO and a mongrel core duo, during testing prior to deployment, the system won't come back from suspend. The screen is very very dim and can only be fixed by killing the Xorg or power off / restart. Can't say I noticed this on the previous release... Any...

I have constant problems with SysD and network cifs / smb mount. Good to use a system that responds predictably for a change, meaning BSD.
